This study was done to prove or not prove that there is an association
between periodontal disease and secondhand smoke with non smokers. The
study evaluated 2,739 people who were lifetime nonusers of tobacco. The
study revealed that people who were exposed to secondhand smoke for one
to 25 hours per week in the preceding year was 29% higher than that for
people who were not exposed to secondhand smoke. This is a serious health
hazard, and 40% of people age three years or older are exposed to secondhand
smoke. Smoking can be harmful to friends and loved ones. Be careful if
you smoke around your children!!
