What to do when a tooth is knocked out

A permanent tooth can sometimes be implanted when it is knocked out. Baby teeth are normally not implanted. Call us as quickly as you can to increase the chances of saving the tooth. If the accident has been longer than two hours the odds of saving the tooth declines.

How to transport the tooth to the dentist office:

1. Rinse the tooth gently with water by holding the crown part of the tooth. Remember, do not scrub the tooth.

2. Place the tooth in a container with milk or you can carry the tooth between the gum and lower teeth.

3. Transport the tooth as quickly as possible.
