We are so proud to have this technology to
check our patients for oral cancer! This device is the
only FDA-approved method for discovering oral mucosal lesions that might not be
apparent or visible to the naked eye. Oral cancer’s five year survival
rate is about 83% . All oral cancer discoveries fall in to this category.
Finding oral cancer in its early stages is key to survival. Velscope is
a hand held device that provides us with an easy to use mucosal examination
system for early detection of abnormal tissue. The handpiece emits a safe
blue light into the oral cavity, which excites the tissue from the surface
which cause fluorescence. We are able to immediately view the different
fluorescence responses to help differentiate between normal and abnormal
tissue. Velscope has been featured on The DR. Oz Show. The examination
