Keep 32 was discovered by two scientists, Jose Cordova of Yale University
and Erich Astudillo from the University of Chile. They named the molecule
“Keep 32″ after the 32 teeth in the mouth. The molecule is able to
kill all the bacteria Streptococcus mutans, commonly found in the oral cavity. This bacteria
causes tooth decay. The scientists say the molecule can be incorporated
into products like mouthwash, toothpaste, and candies. Keep 32 is able
to kill the bacteria in
less than 60 seconds.
Jose Cordova believes that the product could be on the market
within 14 to 18 months. Remember, one in five Americans have a cavity
